LOCATION

PePcon takes place on Level 3 of the San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina, 333 West Harbor Dr, (619) 234-1500

You can find maps and more information here.

WHAT TO WEAR

There is no dress code for PePcon, other than casual and relaxed. We have limited control over the “weather” inside the hotel, and air conditioning is a fact of life in hotels, so we encourage you to dress in layers and bring a light sweater, just in case!

REGISTRATION

We encourage you to check in early to pick up your badge. There’s a lot to cover each day, and sessions start promptly each morning at 9:00 am.

Conference registration is in the foyer in front of the Marina Ballroom on the third floor and will be open:

  • 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday
  • 7:30 am to 5:00 pm on Monday
  • 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday

You do not need to bring a printed receipt; if you’re reading this email, then you’re in our system.

SCHEDULE

On Monday and Tuesday morning at 8:15, we encourage you to bring your breakfast into the ballroom to watch a presentation from our sponsors: MEI (Monday), and Pagination (Tuesday).

Come celebrate with us Monday night! Meet the speakers and your fellow attendees at our reception, immediately following the final session at 5:00 pm in the foyer outside the ballroom. We’re serving beer, wine, and soft drinks, as well as appetizers to get you ready for dinner on your own that night… to be followed by an informal roundtable discussion with members of the team from Adobe!

You can download a one-page PDF of the sessions schedule on Monday and Tuesday here.

TRANSPORTATION

We have a lot of information regarding transportation to and from the airport, parking (if you’re driving), and other details here.

FOOD

We’ll be serving a complimentary breakfast (yes, with protein!) and lunch each day. Beverages will also be available throughout the show.

LAPTOPS

You do not need to bring your laptop. Some attendees like to bring laptops or tablets for note-taking or to try out techniques they learn. We don’t have power strips in the ballrooms so make sure you’re charged up. Limited WiFi (enough for checking email, not for streaming video!) will be available.

MEET THE SPEAKER / HELP DESK

One of the benefits of this conference is the availability of world-class experts. Come say hi to our presenters at the Meet the Speaker table in the foyer, beginning at 5:00 pm on Sunday afternoon and extending until Wednesday. This is a great time for informal Q&A and in-depth “solution-ing.” The speaker schedule will be posted.

SPEAKER HANDOUTS

We combine all the handouts created by our speakers into one PDF, organized by day and session, and we make it available to you to download. We’ll post version 1 of the PePcon 2016 handout PDF by this Friday morning. Check your email for the URL.

We publish the “V1” handouts before the conference so you can download them more easily from your home or office. However, note that our presenters inevitably send us additional and updated material during the event, so be sure to check back after the conference for the final version of the handouts.

SOCIAL NETWORKING

If you haven’t yet checked our our event networking site, now is a great time to visit!

(We have sent out email reminders to people who had not yet signed in to the Connect site and completed their profile. You’ll need the personalized code in that email to register. If you don’t see it, email us.)

The PePcon networking site is a great way to become more familiar with who is attending, plan meet-ups, share information, talk to the presenters early, and more! For example, you can see who is coming from the farthest away, and who wants to go running in the mornings or head out to an event in the evening!

Facebook: We post news, pictures, and behind-the-scenes stories about the speakers and the event on our PePcon page, and any attendee can post there too! Please visit and “Like” our page.

Twitter: If you tweet about the conference, please include the hash tag #pepcon   You can also follow us here.

MEET-UP BOARD

We will have a large white board and bulletin board set up in the foyer near the registration desk so you can learn about ad-hoc meet-ups organized by your fellow attendees, like dinners, outings, running partners, and so on. Feel free to post your own “event,” and be sure to check this area frequently to learn about events posted during the conference.

VIDEO

We have made arrangements for the conference sessions on Monday and Tuesday to be recorded and will automatically make those sessions available to all Gold Pass (4-day) attendees after the event.

In fact, if you have colleagues or friends who wanted to attend PePcon but can’t, they can now sign up for an “Online Access Only” registration (see the Registration page), and we’ll give them access, too!

If you have a 2-day or 3-day pass to PePcon 2016, you can get access to the conference recordings in one of two ways:

  • You can add it to your registration package at any time. This option costs $150.
  • You can upgrade to a Gold Pass. This gives you access to all four days of sessions, plus the video recordings.

To upgrade or add the recordings to your registration, you can log into your account (there is a link in “Questions,” below), or you can contact Marci at info@pepcon.com.

The video recordings will be high-quality audio and the video shown on the screen, so you won’t miss any slides or demos.

Last but not least…

Have fun! We don’t know what the San Diego weather will bring (but the forecast looks good), but we do know that we have the world’s best publishing conference, largely because of YOU. Your participation, networking, and questions are a big part of what makes this event special.

We’re looking forward to seeing you! We think this is going to be the best PePcon ever!

Best wishes,
David Blatner and Anne-Marie Concepcion
