Ron Bilodeau

bilodeau Ron Bilodeau is a graphic designer specializing in book template design and digital media. He has designed and refined interior templates for Cooks Illustrated and O'Reilly Media. In addition to his design work, Ron is using InDesign to develop a seamless workflow for easily exporting print-ready PDFs and web-ready digital formats from the same source files. He is currently the Production and Design Specialist at O'Reilly, where he is focusing on producing valid ePub documents from InDesign.

David Blatner

blatner David Blatner is the author or co-author of 15 books, including Real World InDesign and InDesign for QuarkXPress Users, and presents many InDesign video titles at Lynda.com. He is the editorial director of InDesign Magazine. Over a half a million copies of his books are in print in 13 languages, and his free InDesignSecrets plug-in offers a “tip of the day” to thousands of users worldwide. Pariah S. Burke

Pariah S. Burke is a design and publishing workflow expert and can be found at WorkflowCreative.com. He is the author of Mastering InDesign CS3 for Print Design and Production and the publisher of the Web sites Quark VS InDesign.com, Designorati, Gurus Unleashed (www.GurusUnleashed.com), Workflow: Freelance (www.WorkflowFreelance.com), and the Creatives Are Community and Toolbar (www.CreativesAre.com). When not traveling, Pariah lives in Portland, Oregon, where he writes (a lot).

Diane Burns

Diane Burns is one of the pioneers in electronic publishing, and in 1984 founded TransPacific Digital, Inc (formerly TechArt). TransPacific Digital was one of the first Macintosh-based design firms in the country and today is one of the leading firms for print, web and interactive design specializing in East Asian languages. She is an Adobe Authorized Training Instructor and the author of several books and many articles on publishing. She is a frequent contributor to InDesign Magazine.

Anne-Marie Concepción

Anne-Marie "HerGeekness" Concepcion owns a busy cross-media design studio in Chicago and is one of the industry's best-known Adobe trainers and consultants. She also presents many video tutorials at Lynda.com. In addition to her work here, Anne-Marie hosts InCopySecrets.com, for editors and designers working in an InDesign/InCopy worfklow, and writes the free monthly e-zine InCopyFlow. The tips and insights she shares in her free DesignGeek e-zine are enjoyed by thousands of designers, publishers, and prepress professionals around the world. David Creamer

David Creamer is President of IDEAS Training and Adobe Certified Instructor for over 10 Adobe programs—in addition, to being a QuarkXPress, FileMaker, and Enfocus authorized trainer. With a background in tradition publishing (that is, before computers) and starting with PageMaker in 1985, Creamer brings a foundation of production knowledge deficient in many training companies today. He has been an award-winning art director of multiple publications, including Modern Drummer and The Gourmet Retailer magazine—and has designed/produced hundreds of other various publications as part of IDEAS.

Rufus Deuchler

Rufus is a communication designer who has always been fascinated by technology that makes creation easier. He was a Worldwide Evangelist for Creative Solutions at Adobe Systems until 2009, and has been an Adobe Certified Expert Print Specialist and Adobe Cross-Media Guru since 2002. Author of interactive courses, writer for specialized publishing magazines, webmaster of the first InDesign User Group in Italy. Teacher of graphic design to US students for over ten years. Colin Fleming

Colin Fleming is an Application Engineer at Adobe Systems Incorporated. He has taught advanced classes on applications and production techniques for print and Web design since 1999. His specialties include InDesign production workflows and custom training for Adobe customers who are moving to InDesign and Creative Suite workflows. Colin is an Adobe Certified Instructor in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, and Acrobat, and an Adobe Creative Suite Master Instructor. He was also hired by Adobe to help create and review many of the actual Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) exams. Colin has been a member of the Seattle InDesign User Group since its original meeting in 2000 and was the chapter representative from 2002-2004.

Nigel French

Nigel is a graphic designer, photographer, author, and teacher living in Brighton, UK. Between 1991 and 2001 Nigel operated Small World Productions, a graphic design firm in San Francisco. In 2001 he became the director of the Graphic and Interactive Design program at University of California Berkeley Extension. He is the author of InDesign Type and Photoshop Unmasked, both from Adobe Press. Nigel travels internationally teaching InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and design classes.

James Fritz

After graduating from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, with a degree in Graphic Design, Fritz's first "real" job included creating a catalog in Quark 4 on OS 9. It wasn't long before he convinced the company to upgrade to OS X and switch to InDesign. After assisting the company's transition to InDesign, he started working for C2 Graphics Productivity Solutions in Milwaukee, WI, as a creative talent. Soon he was promoted to a full-time instructor and designer. He is currently an Adobe Certified Design Specialist with certifications in InDesign, InCopy, Acrobat, Photoshop, and QuarkXPress.

Keith Gilbert

Keith Gilbert has worked as an independent consultant and educator in the design industry for 25 years for clients such as Apple, Adobe, Best Buy, Cargill, General Mills, Lands’ End, Medtronic, Target and the United Nations. His work has taken him throughout the US and Canada, as well as to Barbados, Kenya and Monaco. He is an Adobe Certified Instructor in InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat, and the Chapter Representative for the Minneapolis InDesign User Group. Mordy Golding

The founder of Design Responsibly, Mordy Golding has played an active role in the design and publishing space since 1990. A production artist for both print and the web for many years, Mordy, an Adobe Certified Expert and Adobe Community Expert, is an author and an instructor, and regularly speaks at worldwide events including Adobe MAX. Mordy is the author of Real World Illustrator, SAMS Teach Yourself Adobe Creative Suite All in One, and The Web Designer’s Guide to Color. Training videos for Lynda.com recorded by Mordy include Illustrator Essentials, Illustrator Beyond the Basics, and Illustrator for the Web. Mordy is also the author of the popular Real World Illustrator blog. Mordy worked at Adobe as the product manager for Adobe Illustrator, and was named a Champion of Graphic Design by Graphics IQ. Kovid Goyal

Kovid has many and varied interests. Currently he works full time on e-books and the various challenges associated with making them happen. He is the principal developer of calibre (http://calibre-ebook.com), a comprehensive suite of utilities for managing/converting/viewing e-books and news in digital formats. In the past, he has worked on quantum computing, while getting a Ph.D. in the subject at Caltech. His dissertation focused on developing designs for fault tolerant quantum computers.

Olav Martin Kvern

Olav Martin Kvern is is an award-winning illustrator, graphic designer, software developer, and writer. He is the author of several books, including Real World InDesign, Real World Freehand, and Real World PageMaker, and was a columnist and Contributing Editor for Adobe Magazine. He currently works on the Developer Technologies team at Adobe.

Jim Maivald

Jim Maivald is a designer, consultant and Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) and Instructor (ACI) with over 25 years of experience in the graphic design industry. He has design and production experience in all areas of print and Web design. Jim has been editor of several graphic design and electronic publishing magazines. He is also an author of hundreds of magazine articles on graphic design and electronic publishing, as well as several books, including Photoshop Complete and The Designer's Guide to Adobe InDesign and XML (Adobe Press, 2008). Recently, he was the technical editor for Dreamweaver Classroom in a Book (Adobe Press, 2009) and contributed an entire chapter to Michael Murphy's Adobe InDesign CS4 Styles.

Branislav Milic

Brussels based Branislav Milic is an Adobe Certified Expert and Trainer. He travels all over Europe and the United States to host seminars, trainings, and to implement complex but efficient publishing workflows. His website milic.com/indesign has been covering all-things-InDesign in the French language since the release of InDesign 1.0 in September 1999.

Michael Ninness

Michael Ninness is currently the VP of content at lynda.com. Until recently he was a group product manager for the Design Segment at Adobe, where he drove product strategy, design, and development for several products and services in the Creative Suite. Some of his other past roles are InDesign senior product manager and lead product manager for Microsoft Expression Blend. He received a BFA in graphic design from the University of Washington, where he paid his way by teaching designers and photographers how to use digital tools and techniques. Michael has had a multi-dimensional career, with more than 15 years of experience as a product manager, user experience designer, trainer, and evangelist for software used by creative professionals. He is a frequent and top-rated presenter at numerous industry events, including PhotoPlus Expo, PMA, Photoshop World, Macworld, Flash on the Beach, Web Design World, Adobe MAX, and the HOW Design Conference.

Gabriel Powell

Gabriel Powell is the author of Instant InDesign and Learn Adobe Photoshop CS4 by Video. He is also a contributing author to InDesign Magazine and the producer of the Instant InDesign Video Podcast. As the Training Director for Metafusion Training, Gabriel teaches InDesign, InCopy, and other applications to creative professionals throughout the United States and Western Europe. He specializes in eBook publishing, automated publishing, template building, and streamlining publishing workflows. Gabriel is also the founder and chapter leader of the Amsterdam InDesign User Group.

Mike Rankin

Mike has 15 years of publishing experience, including project management, layout, prepress, XML, support, and training. He is the author of "The InDesignSecrets Guide to the Adobe InDesign ACE Exam" and the "InDesignSecrets Guide to Graphic Effects." He is also the Manager of Workflow Automation at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Co., responsible for researching and developing tools and best practices to optimize a global product development workflow for K–12 educational publishing. Received Six Sigma Black Belt training methods to drive constant process improvement in an XML workflow to reduce the time and cost of re-using print content for the Web. He also writes for InDesign Magazine, InDesignSecrets.com, and his blog, Publicious.net.

Leonard Rosenthol

Leonard Rosenthol is the PDF Standards Evangelist at Adobe Systems. He returned to Adobe after over 10 years of involvement in the PDF world. During that time he worked as the Director of Software Development for Appligent, and the Chief Innovation Officer for Apago, while also running the successful consulting business of PDF Sages. Before becoming involved in PDF, Leonard was the Director of Advanced Technology for Aladdin Systems and responsible for the development of the StuffIt line of products.

Kiyo Toma

Kiyo Toma Kiyo Toma is a Senior Product Manager with the InDesign product team at Adobe Systems. He's been involved in design, publishing, and technology for 22 years, setting his first line of type on a 512K Apple Macintosh computer. While mastering early versions of Quark and Pagemaker, Kiyo eventually tired of washing toner and developer fluid from his hands and focused his career on technology. He then proceeded to learn a number of markup languages (HTML, SGML, and XML) but just as he was tiring of typing angle brackets, he was lucky enough to find employment at Adobe Systems. Kiyo holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of Arts. He is known to still twitch at bad kerning and keeps a Mac Plus for sentimental reasons.

Russell Viers

Russell Viers started his career as a staff writer/photographer in 1981, at the age of 16 for his local daily newspaper. Since then, he has been involved in most facets of the newspaper business, as well as printing and publishing. For the past 11 years he has shared his vast knowledge of publishing production techniques as speaker, trainer and workflow consultant. As an Adobe Certified Instructor, his expertise is in teaching publishers how to use Adobe and Quark software to create better documents faster. His customer list is long and varied, but includes such names as Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies Home Journal, New York Times Regional Media Group, San Diego Union Tribune, Primedia Business and more. As a speaker, he is hired by printing and newspaper associations throughout the world to be a presenter at conferences and workshops, including the HOW Conference, IFRA, and NEXPO. James Wamser

James Wamser, Senior Training Specialist, Sells Printing Company, is an Adobe Certified Instructor. James provides training and technical support for Sells' customers as well as its prepress department. He has been working with Adobe InDesign since prior to the release of version 1.0, and is an InDesign instructor at Waukesha County Technical College.

Steve Werner

Steve Werner has developed and taught classes in InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, and Photoshop since the early 90’s. He co-authored Moving to InDesign with David Blatner and Christopher Smith, and Real World Adobe Creative Suite 2 with Sandee Cohen. He has been an instructor at many industry conferences—including Seybold Conferences and The Creative Suite Conference. In the Bay Area, he teaches at AcademyX and the Printing Industry of Northern California classrooms. He is a regular contributor to InDesignSecrets.com and InDesign Magazine, and is an Adobe Certified Instructor and Adobe Certified Expert. He is to co-founder of csmagic.com, which produces online classes to help you master the Adobe Creative Suite.
